      Lena Zlock (History and French, ’19) is conducting transformational research on Voltaire’s personal library that includes some unexpected ties to Imperial Russia. Zlock’s project employs digital tools to organize and analyze the contents of Voltaire’s library of over 6, books, currently housed in the Hermitage Museum. A year or two before, Voltaire had received from the duke of Holstein, heir presumptive to the throne of Russia, husband of Catherine II., an invitation to reside in the Russian capital, on a revenue of 10, francs a year, which he declined.
